SIGN UP FOR THE FALL CATCH-UP READ-A-THON

Time to sign up for the Fall Catch-Up Read-A-Thon! You can do a post saying you're participating (and to help me get the word out) or just link your blog.  No need to make your reading list yet, unless you want to! I'll also be posting a starting line linky on the start day of the read-a-thon.  If you would rather wait until then to post your reading list, that is also fine.  I'm flexible!
  • The official start date and time is Monday, September 20 at 8am CT, but you do not have to start on time and you can adjust it according to your time zone.  The end date is Sunday, September 26 at 8pm CT (again, adjust accordingly).
  • Keep in mind that you do not have to participate the entire week or 24 hours a day.  I made it a week long, during the week and the weekend, so that people that work different schedules can participate.  And don't forget...sleeping is allowed! Also, forgot to mention...you do not have to have a blog to participate.  Leave your sign up and reading list in the comments.
  • I am hosting a giveaway for everyone who signs up, then posts on the starting line on start day, and actually participates in the read-a-thon.  That's all you will have to do to be entered.  The prize will be a gift certificate to BetterWorldBooks, a book seller that donates all proceeds to literacy programs around the world.  Doing my bit for a good cause too! And they are awesome because they always have free shipping and they ship carbon free.  Not sure what the amount is going to be...that part will be a surprise! I've also decided to host a mini-challenge that will go on the entire week so people will have plenty of time to participate.  Not sure what the mini-challenge will be or what the prize will be for that yet.  I'm all about the surprises right now!
  • Also, during the event, be sure to come chat with us on Twitter.  Just use hashtag #readathon  There may be some surprise giveaways on there as well.  Anyone who wants to do an impromptu giveaway during chats is more than welcome.
  • If you are interested in doing a giveaway or mini-challenge for the read-a-thon, please email me at truebookaddict@gmail.com
  • I will also be kicking off the first of my week long Banned Books Week posts on Saturday, September 25, which will only add more fun!
I think we are going to have a lot of fun! I hope you will sign-up and get ready to catch up on some reading!

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to comment. It means so much.

I apologize for word verification, but as soon as I changed the settings from only users with Google accounts, I started receiving a ton of spam comments...within one hour of changing the settings. The bots are on high alert apparently.

  1. This sounds like a great opportunity to concentrate on some of the YA books that have been piling up for a while. Thanks!

  2. I have a huge personal (rather than professional) TBR pile and this week will be my excuse to get around to doing some of the reading I want to do just for me. Though I may of course end up posting reviews on what I read, lol.

  6. Michelle - I am sorry I got on your linky twice - I changed my link, but it came up on the linky wrong and so I tried again - of course it did the same thing the second time! It is supposed to say Beverly @ The Wormhole (Fall Catch-up Read-a-thon). Is there a way for you to kick out one of mine and change the name - or kick them both out and I will try again. Thanks - please let me know - bsharp88@gmail.com

  9. I would love to participate, but I'm afraid these first weeks of school are going to eat my lunch in terms of prep time for class.

Perhaps I can cheer you on from the sidelines!

  10. I will try my best, but I can make no promises. School has been kicking my butt already, and I have a feeling that it's only going to get worse as the semester gets going. I do have so many books on my TBR list that I really should try to catch up on though. Reading has been very slow recently, but maybe if I actually get some good books to read it might be a little better. The books I'm reading right now really aren't all that great. Hopefully this will help me get back in the swing of things again.

  18. How exciting. I needed some inspiration to clear off more of my TBR pile. No better day to start than my birthday.

    Happy reading everyone.

  19. I've posted my read-a-thon list over at my site: http://www.bitsyblingbooks.com

I decided to read only paperback books (no eBooks) from my TBR list that were physically sitting on my personal shelf. We'll see how far I get, but I'm looking forward to reading what I picked out.

  20. I thought I had signed up for this already. Good thing I came back to make sure!
Just found out that I am having surgery Wednesday, so I may actually be able to get a good chunk of reading in, as I will have some help with my son!
I have not had a chance to do a post yet. I will do a post and sign in as soon as I can tomorrow, as I need to get some sleep. Pre-op appointments in the am!

  21. What an awesome idea! The perfect excuse to ignore all the other things I'm supposed to be doing for the week and get a good chunk of my ever-increasing stack of books read - thanks :)

No list as yet - I'm just going to see how the mood strikes I think...
